INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES PARTICIPATION IN FUNDING OF PUBLIC JUNIOR SECONDARY EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN RIVERS STATE


This study investigated international agencies participation in funding public Junior Secondary Education for Sustainable Development in Rivers State. A descriptive survey research was adopted. A sample of 168 principal consising119 male and 69 female principals representing 70% of the total population. An instrument titled “International Agencies Participation Funding Questionnaire (IAPFQ)”, with 36 items, was validated by the researchers; and the internal consistency was determined using the Pearson Product Moment Coefficient (r) = 0.89. The research questions were analyzed using mean score, standard deviation, and rank order. Z-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance, respectively. The findings, revealed that international agencies participation made a significant contributions in funding most public junior secondary education in the state. The following recommendations were made: policy statement and appropriate legal disciplinary action should be given to any staff that was caught involving in embezzlement of donor fund meant for sustainable development of UBE programmes in the state and there should be proper monitoring group or unit should be established in various public junior secondary schools to check all the resources that were donated to schools if they were properly directed and utilized for the purpose which they are provided for.
