Use of Web Analytics in Open and Distance Learning in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria


Abstract Internet provides Open and Distance Learners opportunities to connect with peers and tutors. It also provides access information and learning resources needed for effective learning experience and build skills necessary for 21st century workplace. How students/prospective students and others use and access information from institutions’ website is important because it provides useful information on patterns of behavior needed for adaptive learning and the optimization of the website. The present study provides information about the online behaviour of Distance Learning Centre (DLC) students of the University of Ibadan over a period of five years, from June 23, 2011 to June 22, 2016. The findings indicate that users access the website more from the desktop computer than their mobile phone or tablets. Female users were more active on the website than their male counterpart and users between the ages of 25 to 34 were more active than users of any other age bracket.
