EARNiA 2nd International Conference- Calabar 2016
Introduction
Adapting Western education for development by Africa inevitably entails some catching up in the process of operationalizing every process involved in educating the African child given national and global cultures. The concern of this conference is "for each identified trend in global education, what is assessment and research in African education doing or should be doing to catch up with such trend?"
Therefore,EARNiA announces her 2nd International Conference which shall hold in the Republic of Nigeria between 28 Novemberand 2 December, 2016 at the University of Calabar,Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.
THEME: THE ROLE OF ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH IN CATCHING-UP WITH THE TRENDS IN GLOBAL EDUCATION
Sub-Themes
1.Current (or Emerging) trends in assessment and research in global education. Trends in curriculum development, pedagogy, teaching, administration, research, assessment, etc.
2. Trends in funding and quality of education: Comparative analysis of funding and achievement, administration, assessment procedures, research concerns, policy, etc. and how these affect teaching and learning globally (for example: relating percentage of budget located to education to educational development across countries globally and especially in Africa).
3.Comparative gap analysis stakeholders expectations and actual achievement of African education across states, countries, continental regions, international regions,
4.Trends in the roles of national and international examinations
(TIMMS, PERIL, SACMEQ) bodies in furthering improvement through African education.
Who is qualified to attend?
Participation is open to all stakeholders in assessment and research across Africa and beyond. All academics in African Universities, Colleges of Education, Polytechnics and staff of the Examination Units or Boards of the Ministries of Education, Public Examination Bodies and classroom teachers can participate.
